FIRST-PARTY ARCHITECTURE

How CompanyOS uses the ContractSpec foundation.

A source-based case study of application composition, with the boundaries between reusable infrastructure and product-specific work kept visible.

UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIP

Read this as an architecture case.

CompanyOS is a first-party application in the LSSM ecosystem. This page explains the responsibilities visible in the inspected source architecture.

IN A CONCRETE SITUATIONIt does not claim independently measured customer savings, a freshly tested deployment or a production-qualified end-to-end workflow. Those would require their own evidence.

Follow a unit of work through the product.

An operational workflow can begin with a signal, produce a proposed action, require a review decision and reach an execution boundary.

The useful architectural question is where each responsibility lives: what the operation declares, which actor can decide, how the application presents the choice and which implementation performs the effect.

Follow one handoff from intent to learning.Trace the mechanism · 3 ways to look closer

A team wants the next handoff to arrive with enough context for someone to act. Inspect the information each stage should preserve.

Where is the handoff today?
A CONCRETE SITUATION

Make the desired change recognizable.

“Improve the handoff” is a goal, but it does not yet describe the receiving person’s next action.

01 / Goal

Describe what should become easier for the receiving team.

What changes

Name the receiver, recurring information gap and intended improvement.

What stays explicit

A useful intention is not a completed task or observed result.

FOLLOW THE CONSEQUENCE

Agree what would count as a better handoff before choosing more automation.

Where this explanation comes from

A hypothetical handoff built from the OS work-brief and work-thread content. It describes planning and review; no connected workflow or trial is executed here.

Different people can work from the same underlying model.

An operator may need the next action. A reviewer may need its context and consequence. An administrator may need configuration and history.

Role-aware surface resolution provides a way to present those needs while keeping the operation's definition shared. Server-side authorization still decides what can actually run.

Composition depends on explicit requirements.

A composed application needs more than a catalogue of components. It must connect the context, ports and capabilities each module expects.

Feature Hubs make those dependencies and effect boundaries part of the composition model. Application readiness and provider readiness must still be established for the deployment being evaluated.

A reusable piece comes with a set of relationships.Trace the mechanism · 3 ways to look closer

A communication capability might need an operation, a provider port and a policy binding. Explore what happens when one piece is missing.

What is ready in the composition?
A CONCRETE SITUATION

You can inspect the promise before enabling an effect.

The capability is described, but no active installation or provider has been selected.

01 / Declare

Name the operations, capabilities and required ports.

What changes

The product can discover the capability and its requirements.

What stays explicit

A declaration alone does not send a message or initialize a provider.

FOLLOW THE CONSEQUENCE

Use the dependency map to choose what to bind. Do not treat catalogue presence as runtime readiness.

Where this explanation comes from

An authored situation, grounded in the linked source guides. Choosing a case explores its expected responsibilities; it does not execute an operation.

Identify the reusable part before borrowing the application.

The contracts, adapter patterns, presentation primitives and boundary checks can inform another product. CompanyOS-specific domain decisions and operational assumptions may not transfer.

Start with the smallest reusable pattern that matches your own workflow. Avoid treating the entire application as a required runtime for ContractSpec.
